At this point you need to decide if you want a finer mulch that can decompose into the landscape faster versus a coarse mulch that will last longer or do I want something that has long lasting color like a dyed mulch? In conclusion, no mulch is better than another, you should pick the mulch that looks and works best for your use.

Absolutely, you can pick up your mulch or stone directly from McCarty Mulch. Our front loaders will gently load your truck with any product you can haul safely. Depending on truck size, pickup trucks can usually haul between 2-3 cubic yards of mulch and ½ to 1 yard of topsoil or stone.

To equal one yard of bulk mulch in bagged quantities it takes 9 bags of the 3 cubic ft. size to equal one yard. And 13.5 bags of the 2 cubic feet variety to equal a yard.

Absolutely, our dyed mulch is made with non-toxic Heartland Enriched colorants that are processed using “Color-Safe” Technology. This colorant is completely safe for shrubs, plants, pets and children. Some of the same materials used to make the colorant are the same materials used commonly in lipsticks, cosmetics and food containers.

Colored mulches contain dye and or color additives that a require a certain amount of drying time after application and before rain or watering. Please allow for 48-72 hours of curing or drying after application to prevent discoloring.

No, we do not treat our mulch with any chemicals or pesticides. In fact our mulch is 100% organic wood bark or wood fiber. If you purchase dyed or colored mulch then a non-toxic mulch colorant is added during manufacturing.

Dyed mulch can stain driveways especially during heavy rains. We encourage placing a tarp down where the mulch will be dumped to prevent staining, and also wearing old clothing and gloves while spreading. We also recommend giving the dyed mulch 24-48 hours of drying or curing time in the landscape beds before watering or heavy rainfall to prevent mulch discoloration. Dyed mulch may take a little more TLC in the beginning but the color will look great throughout the whole season.
